Smart State Engineering Scholarships
The Smart State Engineering Scholarship program is designed to encourage more students to take up engineering degrees at university. Currently, The Coordinator-General has combined with other government agencies and private sector organisations to offer 8 new Smart State Engineering Scholarships, ranging from $2500 per year for four years, to $5000 per year for four years.

The “Engineer a Smarter Future” Scholarship program offers scholarships to three first-year university engineering students.
Dedicated to encouraging and supporting students within Engineering at QUT, the Faculty is also now offering ten new Women in Engineering Scholarships valued at $5,000 each and an additional five places in the Dean's Scholars Program for students commencing their studies in 2006. This means there are now twenty-five full Dean's Scholars scholarship places available. Central Queensland University offers a number of Cooperative Engineering Scholarships. $1000 — A total of twelve (12) scholarships will be awarded annually to students who enrol in the Bachelor of Engineering Co-operative/Diploma of Professional Practice (Engineering) program and who are currently completing Year 12.
Two scholarships will be available for students selected each year from grade 12 students in high schools in each of the Rockhampton, Mackay, Gladstone and Bundaberg districts (ie within a 100km radius of each centre). A further two will be available for students from South East Queensland schools. The remaining two scholarships will be available for students from other Central Queensland schools more than 100km from the four cities mentioned.
This scholarship has been established by Queensland Main Roads to encourage and support students undertaking the Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/Diploma of Professional Practice (Engineering), concentrating on the discipline of Civil Engineering.
Students who have completed year 12 in the previous year are eligible for this scholarship. The scholarship is valued at $7000; subject to satisfactory performance, Year 1 of the duration will receive annual payment of $3000 directly from the Department of Main Roads with the balance of $4000 payable in Year 2.
HECS-HELP loans are available to eligible students enrolled in Commonwealth supported places. A HECS-HELP loan will cover all or part of the student contribution amount. If you receive a HECS-HELP loan, the Australian Government pays the loan amount directly to your higher education provider on your behalf and a HECS-HELP debt is recorded with the Tax Office.
